Would I benefit from reading this book?
« on: June 23, 2009, 05:11:26 PM »

I loved The Introvert Advantage and The Introvert and Extrovert In Love and I'm interested in reading this book too. I have read the description of the book on Amazon.com, and it sounds like it's written for parents of introverted children, or possibly their teachers.

I don't actually have children, nor do I plan on ever having any. I'm more interested in reading the book in order to gain insight on my own childhood. As a young adult I'm still recovering from and reflecting on a lot of things that happened during my childhood. I was hoping that this book could help me to better understand what I experienced as a child, now that I'm old enough to understand it.

Can somebody who has read this book tell me, does the book cover very much information that wasn't included in The Introvert Advantage? Would someone who does not plan to have children still benefit from reading it? Or should I just save my money?

It might help you reconcile things from your own childhood, but it might also cause depression when you realize that certain events or mistreatment could have been avoided by family members who were ignorant of your needs? It could go either way really, it's up to you. If you feel that you need to read about what "could have" happened differently and if that brings you solace, then it could be positive?

Hi everyone and good evening.First, I would go so far as to thank my Lord for Marti. THIS book help put me on the "road to recovery".It has help me understand alot about myself  and I am very much interested in learning more. It has helped me to realize that the main reason I havent been "fitting in" ,was because I was not being my true self, which was in fact introverted. All of my life I have been thinking "WHAT IS IT ABOUT ME?'So , Marti...your knowledge is very much appreciated.I am raising 6 kids .It can help me in understanding the different temperaments within my household  and also Godwilling help them understand themselves.THANKS!

The key to my serenity is acceptance. I don't have to like it - I just need to accept it and learn the lesson I am supposed to 'master'!  Serenity begins when I learn to distinguish between those things that I can change and those I cannot.
