Just had a few thoughts about the shopping scenes all over the world and ive got to say that I really prefer the London scene - with its highstreets, retailers and designers! They are just great!
The other day I saw a Kiosk which was designed by Wayne Hemingway (A high profile fashion designer) and the purpose of this kiosk was to give emerging fashion designers the opportunity to sell their goods. How great is that? At this Kiosk you will find one-off pieces that are beautiful.

For the most part I do what the rest of you on here have done which is greatly limit my time around other people, especially extroverted people.  People who have a stronger introverted side to their personality are easier to deal with because they aren't as overwhelming and exhausting as those who are more extroverted.  Yet, like Margee said previously, ANY amount of time with anyone usually depletes a portion of my "daily energy bank" and I must recharge.  Ofttimes I forget that I need to recharge and wonder why I am so angry and annoyed a lot of the time.

I think that I need to be more aware of my mind telling me that I need to take a break from people and to not neglect these warning signs from myself.  I have yet to identify the exact moments that the warnings occur but I think that my body goes on "auto-pilot" (in the form of laying down or taking a nap) when I am overwhelmed and don't realize it.  This is it's own security system.

There have been moments when I just feel overly tense and annoyed at people and extremely sensitive to every little gesture and tone of their words.  I think it is at these times that my body is telling me to disappear for a while.

I am definitely. I think it's one of the reasons I have become tuned out and living in my own little world as of the last few years. Most things are just too much for me to deal with and I don't have any coping mechanisms.

Yes I am an introvert that is highly intune to people's feelings.  People probably don't realize how intune I am but sometimes I pick up things that make me feel uncomfortable or hurt my feelings.  But I pick up good things as well.

Hi Alex. Thank you for bringing this EXCELLENT PsychToday article to our attention. This is the best discussion of introversion that I've read. I particularly like the acknowledgement of the problem of cultural dissonance...it is assumed by the mainstream that "happiness" (by the extrovert definition) is the goal of everyone. I wish Finland was warmer! (smile)

Hi there, so wonderful to discover such an amazing forum! Here's a question to start me off:

I'm wondering if any of you know how to harvest honey & maybe some wax from native bee hives in the wild, without totally destroying the hives? I live on the Mid-Nth Coast NSW and there are many hives around. The kids want to raid them for honey but I'm concerned that the hives may not survive unless it is done properly - an aboriginal friend of mine used to raid a bush hive every year successfully but I'm out of contact with him at the moment to ask him the best way to go about it...

Cheers & Happy Wattle Day (oops just noticed the time - for yesterday!

I think that we all need moments to rant and to "flail our arms" a bit.  It can get tough trying to stay focused on the responsibilities and tight focus that life requires out of us to carry the weight that it places on us.

It is necessary to regain that focus however or we may find ourselves in a lot of trouble.
