Introvert Advantage
« on: March 09, 2009, 02:42:33 PM »
I've had the book for a couple of years now and have referred to it many times for support and insight.
Any thoughts on family/friends from out of state who decide they'd like to come for a week's visit uninvited?  I wonder sometimes if some people assume that if a woman lives alone, that she's really always wanting/needing company/companionship. I'm 70 years old, single for the past 15 years ( happily so), and am comfortable in my level of activities.  I love being able to manage how often and how much I'm part of a group. Thanks.

Hi,
interesting thought about "single women needing company". I have always thought it strange that my plans have less value, than those who live with other people. I have got a lot more space, now that I have bought a dog. But it might just be me who need to be more firm. Of course you don't want anyone to invade your private

Hi, I am new here. I'm already 23 years old and only now I realized that I was an INTROVERT after reading lot of articles from the internet. I am also shy I think aside from being an Introvert. So right now, I feel like I'm having a lot of trouble to cope in the real world. It's tough really, so I think it is very important now to help myself  find ways to cope up. This site is very helpful to understand myself more. I really want to have a copy of this book. Please advise me how because I am living here in the PHILIPPINES and I know only buying a book from a bookstore.

I believe I am an intelligent and has a great potential to contribute a lot for the community. But being introvert become a big problem in my life, maybe I do not handle things that are necessary. So I want help, I want to learn, I want to improve.

If you have a credit card, you can buy books online. You could try Amazon, but I'm not sure if they ship to the Philippines. Otherwise search for online bookstores and something should come up.

Hi,
I bought mine off e-bay...it's still in the process of being shipped to me from the states, but I think it may be cheaper than if you buy it brand new?
You don't need a credit card for that if you open a paypal account!

Wow.  I am only half way through the book but already, so much of my life and the difficulties I have had make sense.  Turning 50 this year and finally embracing my difference with the rest of the world.   I could not-would not-have reached this point without a simple google search for Introvert and discovering Marti's book.  I don't even remember what sparked me to research this but I am glad I found it.
On the story of the mule in the road (pg 82), I was a nurse in a busy Emergency Dept for 12 years.  Way back, nearly 30 yrs ago, I noticed that when a patient was crashing or any odd crisis erupting in the ER, when others would ramp up the volume and adrenalin, I withdrew and quieted.  Over the years, I recognized this trait of mine.  Quiet focus amidst chaos.  I have never known anyone else that reacted to crisis that way.  Truthfully, I always felt odd.
Discovering the work by Dr Laney has been a lifesaver for me.
Thank you Dr Laney
