Cheat sheets

Hi

I love this book so much, but when I get into a "situation" - like a party or any large gathering - I tend to lose my head and forget everything I learned from the book.

I have been thinking of jotting down some notes on index cards or those perforated business cards so I can remember how to deal with things.

What does anyone think of this idea?

If it works for you, it's worth trying.  Maybe not so great to obviously have to pull out your crib notes for socializing, but if you feel overwhelmed, sneak off to a corner or into a bathroom and remind yourself of your strategies.  Keep it simple though.  Or why not try "practicing" each of the hints by taking one at a time, one day at work reminding yourself of ONE strategy and making conscious effort to apply it whenever you can until it becomes more natural.

Obviously cheat sheets are not the optimal strategy, and you want to work yourself to a stage where the techniques become second nature, but if bridging that gap is difficult, anything that can help you is worth the shot.

Just don't become too reliant on any aids - try to wean yourself off them quickly.

Ha, the same thing happens to me.  Reading several "aha!" type things doesn't gaurantee a tangible change.

You can't be too sure that all the strategies the book offers is right for you.  A few times Marti's descriptions of introverts didn't sit right with my idea of myself.  When I began to explore what the inconsistencies might mean, I stumbled upon personality types and discovered there are EIGHT unique introverted types, eaching requiring different strategies for interacting with the world.  You might want to take a look at personalitypage.com   .

Speaking of parties - the last one that I went to it just got too much and so I decided to do the unthinkable and go to the toilets and sit in there for about 20 minutes.
That was before I realised that I was introverted and read about this book.
Talk about a revelation!!!!!!
